The crossing time is roughly 30 minutes between Sanur and the island at cruising speed. Compare that to the public boats, which sit on the schedule of whichever operator you book and can take anywhere from 45 minutes to 90 minutes depending on conditions and stops. The 30-minute figure holds in normal dry-season weather; in big-swell months (December to February especially) the crossing is slower and individual sailings can be cancelled when conditions are unsafe. If you are flexible on dates and want the cheapest crossing, the public speedboat dock in Sanur still has walk-up rates. The trade-off is more variable departure times and no included pickup.
